Key to the role of the Finance Manager (FM) is financial management. The position manages, develops and controls, to ensure the integrity and timely provision of financial management and corporate reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and management of the Finance Office.

Responsibilities: Core Requirements:

Financial Management:

  • Budget preparation, and contracts and grants management
  • Monthly financial reporting, analysis of business performance drivers and trends, running of annual budget process, forecasting financial results and preparation of funder financial reports
  • Managing budgets and reporting in foreign currency
  • Driving relationships across senior levels with a view to ensuring finance involvement in all future strategic business planning
  • Analysis and recommendations for improved performance in financial areas
  • Internal auditing of Unit and multiple sites
  • Maintaining relationships with study funders, sponsors and other relevant stakeholders
  • Providing primary finance support and advice to the senior leadership team in the development of grant proposals
  • Identify potential new business initiative and research opportunities for the unit and maintain existing projects/programmes
  • Risk Management within the Unit and multiple sites
  • Supply chain management and procurement for the Unit and sites.
  • BComm degree majoring in Financial or Management Accounting
  • 5 – 7  years’ experience in a senior finance management role
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience in the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Supply Chain Management (SCM)
  • Proven track record in financial management, and preparation and monitoring of large amounts of external funding
  • Advanced experience in MS Excel, proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong analytical mind are pre-requisites, as the role requires communication with sponsors and collaborators both locally, nationally and internationally
  • Excellent organizational skills

Advantageous:

  • BComm Honours majoring in Financial or Management Accounting
  • 7 – 10 year Finance Management experience with Donor funding experience
  • Excellent knowledge of NIH financial policies, procedures and
  • Reporting system
  • Project management

A salary in the region of R749 401 per annum, total cost-to-company.
