Counselor
HIV Prevention Research Unit
Durban
(One Year Contract)
Counselors are required to provide the following duties:
- Infectious disease (TB/ HIV/ STI) education and counseling
- HIV pre- and post-test counseling/ general counseling
- Administer informed consent (IC) and assess understanding
- Administer questionnaires
- Group and individual education
- Maintaining study documentation
- Research Administration
Successful candidates must have:
- Matric (Grade 12) certificate
- Certified counseling certificate
- 1 – 2 years experience including research counseling experience and training Pre-Test/Post-Test Counseling – General
- Be computer literate
- Be able to write reports
- Be able to work in a team and mentor co-workers
Advantages:

- Knowledge of ARV adherence counseling
- Knowledge of ARV resistance counseling
- Have a holistic bio-psycho – social approach to HIV counseling
A salary in the region of R96 446 – R103 680 per annum, cost-to-company will be negotiated in compliance with experience/qualifications.
