The Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) Health Lead Programme,
Cape Town
The IKS Health Lead Programme of the Medical Research Council is looking for 12 Clinicians to assist in two separate Phase II clinical trial studies.
The two trials are Phase II Efficacy, Safety and Tolerability studies of two complementary / alternative medicines, in HIV positive patients with CD4+ cell count > 350 cells/ml. There shall be 100 recruited participants per site, 50 participants per each study product. Each Clinician will manage 25 study participants. The duration of the study is 28 weeks. The scheduled visits are once a month for the study period.
The two studies will be conducted at three sites in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The selected sites are Addington Hospital in Durban; Hlengisizwe CHC in Hammersdale; and KwaDabeka PHC in Botha’s Hill.
Responsibilities:
- Spend a full day at the study sites on the day of the visit
- Conduct clinical examination of participants
- Complete of CRFs,
- Attend to any medical emergencies
- Managing any medical emergencies and appropriately refer study participants who may need further medical attention.
- To work under guidance of study Principal Investigator.
Requirements
- A MBChB degree qualification
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate. GCP training will be provided to those who do not have the certificate.
- Clinical Research Experience and Medicine dispensing licence will be an advantage
A market related remuneration package will be negotiated with successful applicants.
