Chief Officer/Administrator
Health Systems Research Unit
Pretoria
1 Year contract
Purpose:
The Health Systems Research Unit (HSRU), which focuses on research for the effectiveness of health care, requires a Chief Officer/Senior Administrator in Pretoria to provide administrative and organisational support to the Unit and to several research initiatives. The position will include providing support to the administration of health systems-related research including large national surveys as well as several community randomised trials and other health systems/maternal and child health-related work.
Key performance areas:
- taking minutes
- managing the programme’s budget and expenditure
- ordering materials and equipment
- making travel bookings
- coordinating programme meetings/training/workshops/seminars/conferences
- processing grants and contracts and monitoring the progress thereof
- supervising Field Research Assistants and assisting with internal (i.e. HSRU staff and other MRC departments) as well as external communication with HSRU partners
- general administrative duties.
Requirements:
- a 3-year tertiary qualification (National diploma/Bachelor’s degree) OR an equivalent 2-year qualification
- minimum 3 years’ relevant experience (with a 3-year qualification) OR 5 years’ relevant experience (with a 2-year qualification) in administration
- strong administrative skills
- proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) as well as email and basic internet
- experience in taking minutes
- basic report writing and bookkeeping experience
- excellent interpersonal skills
- ability to work under pressure. Previous experience within a research organisation and basic project management skills will be advantageous.
A total cost-to-company remuneration package in the region of R179 321 to R192 771 per annum will be negotiated in accordance with qualifications and experience.
